Help Create Homes for People in Need–Donate Essential Household Furniture

Thank you for helping us fulfill our mission of Creating Homes. Rebuilding Lives. Your gently used furniture will be donated to community members lacking the financial resources to purchase furniture on their own. 

Before submitting the Furniture Donation Form below, please, be sure we accept the items you want to donate and that they are in very good condition. 

 

What can I donate?

  • Mattresses and box springs (twin, double/full, queen)
  • Pack n’ Play
  • Dining room/kitchen tables (no longer than 5 feet)
  • Dining room/kitchen chairs
  • Full size couches (no larger than 78 inches wide and 39 inches deep)
  • Small couches, love-seats, and other living room seating
  • Futons (must be completely assembled, must include futon mattress)
  • Dressers (no longer than 60 inches long)
  • Coffee tables
  • End tables
  • Bedside tables
  • Working lamps w/shades
  • Area Rugs

We do NOT accept the following items:

  • Items that are extremely heavy, over-sized, stained, soiled, excessively worn, full of pet hair, ripped, broken or show any trace of bedbugs
  • Items from smoking households
  • Items with glass
  • Desks
  • King-sized beds
  • Wooden bed frames
  • Sofa beds/sleep sofas
  • Outdoor or wicker furniture
  • Entertainment centers, armoires, and china cabinets
  • Press or composite board items
  • Appliances, air conditioners, and built-in microwaves
  • TV’s
  • Bedding
  • Curtains or curtain hardware
  • Kitchenware, silverware, or bake-ware.

Please note that there is no charge to schedule a donation pick up. If you would like to support our efforts with an optional financial donation, you can do so by clicking the Donate button above.
For Large Corporate, Hotel, or Institutional Donations offering more than 10 items, please choose “YES”.

We may use your contact information to send you a receipt, our newsletter, and other information about our organization that may be of interest to you. Based on your town, you will need to drop off your donation at our warehouse at 15 Saunders Way in Westbrook, Loading Dock 500D. We only pick up from these towns: Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, Cumberland Foreside, Falmouth, Falmouth Foreside, Portland, Scarborough, South Portland, Westbrook, and Yarmouth.

In an effort to maintain social distancing and facilitate a contactless pickup, donated items must be placed on the porch, in the garage, or outside on the day of the scheduled pickup. Once you submit this form, you will receive an email with additional information and next steps to schedule your pickup.

Furniture Donation

Furniture Friends only accepts furniture in the categories listed below.

Column 1

Beds must be less than 10 years old, clean, unstained, no excessive wear, and no bedbugs or sign of bedbugs.

Dressers should be no wider than 60 inches nor be excessively heavy.

Column 2

Area rugs must be clean, unstained, and vacuumed.

Column 3

Full sized couches should measure no more than 84 inches wide and 39 inches deep. We cannot accept couches that are stained/soiled, excessively worn, full of pet hair, ripped, or broken, and do not accept sofa beds/sleep sofas of any kind.

We cannot accept love seats that are stained/soiled, excessively worn, full of pet hair, ripped, or broken, and do not accept sofa beds/sleep sofas of any kind.

Please, no stained, soiled, excessively worn, full of pet hair, ripped, or broken lounge chairs/living-room seating/recliner(s).
